I believe one's school holds a lot about the future of its students...

I also firmly believe that students, whichever school they came from will be the one responsible in taking the risks for their future.

I've come to realize that we are hired not merely because of the school where we came from but because of the merits we gain from our own school...

Did you know that I have an officemate who's a Pharmacy graduate? Cool?! Yup! It's cool! Whoever thought medical students are forbidden to work on a corporate setting... (I'd like to make it clear, she's not working as a medical attendant or whatsoever in our office!) She also works as a research analyst like us.

Wherever school we came from, I think we, graduates should make our school proud! We should be exerting 1000% more (if we can!), to show the world that we are capable of doing, managing, creating and innovating work.

We may not live in richness... yet Filipinos' lives are as worth as their smile.

Respectful...

Showing respect is more than just greeting people in the entrance door, greeting people when they leave and showing gratitude...

In the Philippines, we show respect for the elders through 'pagmamano', the use of 'po' and 'opo' and family hierarchy awareness.

Other countries post lots of criteria for evaluating respectfulness of a race, never knowing each nation has its own different traditions and customs they don't even know exists.

Biasedly, I believe Filipinos are the most infamous in terms of survey... Philippines could top all positive- related surveys... its just that criteria are set in its most obnoxious way...!!!

Ever wonder why most Filipinos use the Yahoo messenger (YM)? Most Filipinos are aware about the use of yahoo messenger... Most often than not... Filipinos treat 'YM' as a venue for dreams and ambitions.

Especially for the case of the Filipinas who treat YM as an integral 'piece' for getting husbands... rich and foreign... as they envision it to be...

Yahoo Messenger has evolved from an ordinary chat room into a global economy of business, news, culture and gossip.

And now that Google has finally created their much awaited Google Talk! which primarily uses YM functions... it is set to challenge more of YM's current market...

Which will become the Filipinos software for chatting? Still YM, but this will only be until 2008... or so...? Is Google Talk! ready to face Philippine market??... I hope so.

Dreams of being in tPalawan has always haunted me eversince. I wanted to go there, but time, money and existing obligations does not permit me yet to go and visit this particular place... I'd rather go here than France... I feel like this will give me more adventure than the busy streets of Paris.

This might seem like a scenery from a beach in Fiji Island and Papua New Guinea... this is actually located in Iloilo, several towns after Concepcion, Iloilo... and San Rafael, where my relatives reside. Funny it may seem but, I haven't been here!

Katibawasan Falls has remained mysterious until now where technology has been exponentially developing everything. The innocence (if I may say so) of the falls captured the very essense of the a young woman.

How did Filipinos arrived with hair as secondary solution in the Guimaras Oil Spill?

Using hair against the spill cropped up at a news conference, when a member of the environmental group Greenpeace pointed to an experiment in the United States that found human hair useful in cleaning up oil.

As the story goes, Alabama hairdresser Phil McCrory was watching coverage of the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska. Noticing that an otter's fur was saturated with oil, he wonder if hair could help clean up oil.

He collected five pounds of hair from his shop, stuffed it in a pair of his wife's pantyhose, tied the feet together into a ring and put it in his son's wading pool with some oil. With some scientists' help, McCrory learned that hair doesn't exactly soak up the oil, but that oil clings to thousands of tiny scales on hair shafts.

He applied for a patent on the idea in 1993, and got it in 1995.

NASA engineers did some tests in 1998, showing that hair would indeed help clean up oil.

However, marine biologist Rex Sadaba of the University of the Philippines wasn't sold on using hair or even chicken feathers. He says materials like straw may be better since hair takes time to degrade, does not really absorb oil and may not be hygienic.

"I also don't agree with using feathers, because it stinks when it rots, and that will cause additional problems," he said.

Coast Guard Commander Harold Jarder said food and beverage giant San Miguel Corp. sent a ton of chicken feathers to Guimaras and was willing to provide more, but officials have stopped receiving them.

"It's difficult to handle," he said. "And the workers are complaining because of the stench."

The Guimaras oil spill is the second such incident in the Philippines in the last eight months. In December 2005, a power barge ran aground on the nearby coast of Antique, dumping 364,000 litres of bunker oil. This oil spill severely polluted 40km of Antique’s coastline and decimated more than 230ha of pristine mangrove forest. Rehabilitation costs are estimated at US$ 2 million, and clean up efforts have not yet been completed.

WWF has been working in the Guimaras Strait area for several years to promote sustainable coastal management. In 2004, WWF-Philippines facilitated the completion of participatory coastal resources assessments covering a 54km coastline and 37,187ha of municipal waters in the four towns of the Northern Guimaras Strait, as well as developed a programme for the sustainable management of the Strait’s blue crab fishery.
